Court Upholds State's Right to Regulate Non-Residents

In a significant decision by the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, North Dakota's right to regulate its hunting seasons and fees was upheld. The challenge came from the state of Minnesota after North Dakota established a week-early resident-only waterfowling season and increased its nonresident waterfowl license from $10 to $85, in response to the growing number of non-resident hunters affecting residents who were “being squeezed out of prime hunting lands,” reported the Grand Forks Herald.
