Connecticut Sportsmen Should Oppose Trapping Ban

Connecticut sportsmen must immediately contact their State Senator to urge them to oppose Senate Bill 994. The measure would eliminate the use of body-gripping and foothold traps in Connecticut.

The bill explicitly states that “No person shall place, set or attend any body-crushing trap, leghold trap, snare, net or similar device capable of taking, killing or injuring any animal.”

The bill is being pushed aggressively by the leading animal rights group in the nation, the Humane Society of the United States.

The bill is scheduled for its first hearing before the Joint Committee on the Environment on Monday, March 9 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 1E of the LOB. Sportsmen who can make the hearings are encouraged to attend.

Take Action! Connecticut sportsmen are urged to contact their member of the state Senate to tell them to oppose this measure. Tell them SB 994 would eliminate the most effective tools available to manage wildlife populations and control the spread of diseases such as rabies.

To find your Representative’s phone number use the Legislative Action Center.

Additionally, anyone who can attend the meeting to speak in opposition to this drastic measure is encouraged to do so.
