City Turns Over 'Sting' Information The federal agency that New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg insulted by calling it “asleep at the switch” will review whether the City of New York acted illegally in sending private eyes to make straw purchases at firearms dealers in several states, according to an article in Newsday. ATF’s New York office will examine the information gathered independent of law enforcement. NSSF, among others, has criticized Bloomberg’s ill-conceived scheme, pointing out that ongoing criminal investigations by real law enforcement may have been jeopardized, something the Daily News reports might have occurred in as many as 18 cases.
