'Child Safety Lock Act' Calls Attention To Project ChildSafe

The 'Child Safety Lock Act of 2005' that went into effect April 26, requiring firearm retailers to provide a gun locking device with every handgun they sell, has prompted an unusual volume of requests for free Project ChildSafe gun locks from retailers now that they are obligated to provide gun locks to their customers. Project ChildSafe cannot accommodate these requests and cannot be a supplier to retailers. However, Project ChildSafe does encourage and welcome community support to help promote the Project ChildSafe firearm safety education message and the free distribution of safety kits. If a retailer is interested in partnering with a participating law enforcement agency for the purpose of helping with distribution efforts, partner lists are available to contact in every state at www.projectchildsafe.org. Project ChildSafe gun locks are absolutely not for resale.
