Celebration Grows in 2006

National Hunting and Fishing Day was celebrated this past weekend at more than 100 public-welcome events around the country. That's well above the number held in recent years. The events were designed to help Americans appreciate the skills, traditions, economic impacts and conservation successes of hunters and anglers. A signature national event at Wonders of Wildlife museum in Springfield, Mo., featured a special address by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Dale Hall and a spirited performance by country music star Tracy Byrd. As honorary chairman of the 35th anniversary National Hunting and Fishing Day, Byrd gave kudos to NSSF for its role in founding and developing the annual commemoration and also to Wonders of Wildlife for adding significant momentum over the past 12 months National sponsors also included The Outdoor Channel, Bass Pro Shops, Realtree, Woolrich, "Outdoor Life" and "Field & Stream" magazines, National Wild Turkey Federation, Gunbroker.com and Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation.
