Canada Registry A 'Billion Dollar Boondoggle' Following the Canadian auditor general’s confirmation that the net cost of the Firearms Centre created to administer that nation’s firearm registry has reached $1 billion, a British Columbia Wildlife Federation official called the registry a “billion dollar boondoggle” that not only “wasted more than one billion dollars, but failed to improve public safety.” Further, the official says the actual cost of the registry is probably closer to $2 billion.
