Cabela's Donation Will Help Ensure Future Of Outdoor Heritage

Cabela’s Inc., the World’s Foremost Outfitter of hunting, fishing and trapping gear, has generously donated $25,000 to the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation Trailblazer Adventure Program. Trailblazer introduces youth and families to outdoor activities such as shooting, fishing and hunting.

“The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation is proud to have Cabela’s, one of the nation’s most influential outdoor businesses, helping to promote the Trailblazer Adventure Program,” said Bud Pidgeon, USSAF president and CEO. “Their commitment will allow us to continue to reach out to families and introduce them to America’s hunting and shooting traditions.”

Trailblazer is designed to expose youth and families to outdoor activities and promote an outdoor lifestyle. The largest scale outdoor program of its kind, it has brought the thrill of outdoor sports to nearly a quarter of a million people since its inception in 2001. In 2006, 72 events are scheduled in 36 states.

Joe Arterburn, corporate communications manager for Cabela’s, Inc., explained that his company supports the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation mission to protect and advance America’s outdoor heritage. It deems Trailblazer a suitable vehicle to win public support for outdoor sports and involve families in the outdoor experience.

“To date, Trailblazer has provided an exciting introduction for hundreds of thousands of youngsters and families who might not otherwise have the chance to learn about hunting, shooting and the sportsman’s vital role in conversation,” said Arterburn. “Cabela’s wants to do its part to ensure that the program continues to grow and spread the message that outdoor sports are safe and fun for the whole family.”

Cabela’s, Inc. is a longtime supporter of the Trailblazer Adventure Program. Other partners include Boy Scouts of America, the Outdoor Channel and the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. The program is also endorsed by the National Shooting Sports STEP OUTSIDE Program.
