Cabela Family Honored For Giving Back To Sportsmen's Community

During the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA) Spring Board Meeting this past week, an awards luncheon took place to honor a special family for the contributions it has made to America’s sporting heritage.

The Cabela family, represented by Dick and Mary Cabela, was formally recognized for its volunteer and philanthropic leadership through the dedication of a new major USSA award, the Cabela Lifetime Business Achievement Award. The recognition will be given to business leaders who demonstrate, as the Cabela family has, that the outdoor heritage is worth preserving.

Dick Cabela has been an active member of the USSA Board of Directors since 1996 and has been Chairman of the Board since 2001. Mary Cabela, Dick’s wife and lifelong hunting partner, is an active volunteer with the USSA and is Chairman of the Trailblazer Adventure Program Commission.

The Cabela family, through philanthropic endeavors, has been a generous annual donor to the USSA. It was instrumental in establishing the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation Endowment. They are also extremely generous in the time and money they give to ensure that our outdoor traditions are protected.

The Cabela name is familiar to all sportsmen. It is synonymous with quality merchandise via catalog and the Internet, as well as some of the most exciting shopping experiences available for sportsmen at Cabela’s giant retail stores around the country.

The USSA honored the Cabela family for what it has accomplished for American sportsmen. Cabela family members are avid sportsmen, having hunted worldwide.
