Bills Protect Confidentiality Of Concealed Carry Licensees

Proposed legislation in Kansas and Michigan will prevent public disclosure of information regarding people applying for and receiving permits for concealed carry. ABC-affiliate WZZM 13 reports that a bill pending in Michigan’s House would make personal information about concealed weapons carriers exempt from public disclosure and exempt from the Freedom of Information Act, although it could still be disclosed for law enforcement purposes. The Wichita Eagle reports that the Kansas House and Senate have worked out a compromise bill that would seal all information about who applies for, receives or is denied a concealed gun permit.
