Bill To Stop Frivolous Gun Lawsuits Advances To House

Legislation critical to the future of the firearms industry and sportsmen’s rights has advanced to the U.S. House of Representatives.

The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA) is urging sportsmen nationwide to ask their members of Congress to support SB 397, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, introduced by Sen. Larry Craig, R-ID. The bill prevents predatory lawsuits that blame makers and sellers of firearms for the criminal misuse of lawfully sold products. The bill passed the U.S. Senate on July 29 by a vote of 65 to 31.

“The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance joins the National Shooting Sports Foundation and others in supporting legislation that safeguards against lawsuits that could cripple the firearms industry,” said USSA Senior Vice President Rick Story. “Sportsmen are urged to fight to ensure its advancement through the U.S. House of Representatives.”

Take Action! Sportsmen from coast to coast should contact their U.S. Representatives today. Urge them to pass SB 397. To find your U.S. Representative and for contact information, call (202) 224-3121 or use the Legislative Action Center at www.ussportsmen.org.
