ATF Agrees to Review California Revocations

At NSSF's request, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has begun reviewing a number of federal firearms license revocations in California to ensure that they are warranted under the unique facts and circumstances of each case. The review comes after an apparent spike in revocations was brought to NSSF's attention. Top-level ATF officials are looking into the issue to ensure that the process and procedures were fair and that ATF guidelines and policy were followed. NSSF encourages licensees in other states to bring similar occurrences to its attention. NSSF reminds all licensees to take advantage of the educational seminars at the upcoming SHOT Show. "As one court recently said in upholding the revocation of a dealer's license, dealers need to 'sweat the details,'" said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF senior vice president and general counsel.
