Upon award of his senior hunt test title Maximus' professional trainer said, "that is a Field Trials dog; how far do you want to take him?" Being the son of a field champion (Elwood) and a junior hunter (Annie), it's no surprise that Maximus is highly intelligent, and driven to retrieve. His marking abilities, nose, and prey drive are exceptional.

Maximus weighs 80 pounds and stands 23-3/4 inches at the withers. He is lean, powerfully built, with a blocky head, strong legs, and big paws. He has a flawless shiny chocolate coat. Maximus is a bold, confident, playful, social, high energy dog. It's these characteristics that make him highly trainable and allow him to excel in the field.
