Kentucky Governor, LT. Governor Join NSSF In Promoting Firearms Safety Statewide


During the launch of the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s (NSSF) Project HomeSafesm in Kentucky, Governor Paul Patton proclaimed October as Gun Safety Month. Lt. Governor Steve Henry, MD, National Co-Chair of Project HomeSafe, and state sponsor of the program, is the immediate past chair of the National Conference of Lieutenant Governors (NCLG) and under his leadership, NCLG unanimously passed a resolution to endorse Project HomeSafe and distribute three million gunlocks nationwide within twelve months. “I am honored to serve as national co-chair of Project HomeSafe. As a doctor, public servant, gun owner and father, I am committed to educating firearm owners about gun safety,” said Henry, “ . . . to protect our children, we need a proactive plan that makes gun ownership safer. I think Project HomeSafe does just that.” The Lt. Governor traveled statewide to distribute 100,000 free gunlocks and safety kits October 1 - 14. Local county sheriffs were present at distribution sites to help educate firearm owners on gun safety.
